Decathlon is a retail company, founded in 1976 in Lille, France. Globally, is present in 46 countries with more than 80.000 employees with a total turnover of more 12 Bil€

They create, design and manufacture the main part of products sold in store, thanks to 20 Decathlon proprietary brands, each dedicated to a specific sport.

Decathlon Produzione Italia is a subsidiary company of Decathlon involved in the production of sporting goods, mainly in Italy, of Decathlon‘s Brands products.

Decathlon Produzione Italia is one of the four industrial partners in SOFTMANBOT EU Horizon 2020 project as end-user of the textile sector pilot case; the EU project will provide an innovative and holistic robotic system for the handling of flexible and deformable materials within labor-intensive production processes. This system will make sustainable the reshoring of many production from low labour cost countries to EU and this will make possible to make progress on our social and environmental responsability and also to shorten the value chain of product sold in EU.

In collaboration with other partners like Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Michelin and Sorbonne University,  Decathlon will supervise all demonstration activities of the project and the evaluation results for SOFTMANBOT.
